HeART Beat Online Festival
Thursday, June 25, 9:45 am - 11:00 am

Designed especially for youth, but all ages welcome!

Join us by zoom for a virtual HeART Beat Festival celebrating art programs with Queens schools IS 42Q, PS/MS183Q, IS 8Q, IS 72Q, IS 111, and IS 204, led by Black Spectrum Theatre, The Thrive Collective, and Museum of the Moving Image. These programs are funded by the NYC City Council's initiative, Art A Catalyst for Change of 2020, thanks to support from Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo, and Council Members Donovan Richards, Adrienne Adams, and Jimmy Van Bramer. Through these programs NYC public school children and teens receive free arts programming and build their creative problem-solving skills while mentored by teaching artists from local arts organizations.

Black Spectrum Theatre serves thousands of youth every year through after-school programs, performances and events with a multifaceted mission to stimulate social and cultural consciousness through the production and presentation of message-oriented theatre and films, and to help children and youth develop into responsible citizens through affordable theatre arts.

Thrive Collective brings the arts to 419 schools that lack arts education, creating hope and opportunity through arts, sports, and mentoring in and around public schools. Thrive Collective's core programs – Murals, Music, Media, Mentors, and Sports – connect artists, youth workers, and volunteers with local schools as teaching artists, art directors, coaches, and mentors.

The Museum of the Moving Image's Education Department serves 70,000 students per year with interactive learning experiences dedicated to film, media, television, internet broadcasting, and video games. For free media-making tutorials and student digital exhibitions, subscribe to our YouTube channel, Moving Image Studio.
