Pedal Power: An Introductory Mountain Biking Program for Young Girls
Pedal Power is designed to introduce elementary school girls (ages 5 -12) to mountain biking in a fun, comfortable, and supportive environment. Pedal Power is a FREE program that's based on a mentorship model led by female riders including youth riders from the New River Valley Composite and Blacksburg High School race teams.

The first Pedal Power event was held on April 9, 2022 at Nellie's Cave Park in Blacksburg from 10:00 - noon. The event included helmet checks, bike checks, cycling safety, and an introduction to basic mountain biking skills. Pedal Power is ready to take to the trails! Please join us on October 23, 2022 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at McDonald Hollow for beginner mountain bike trail riding and lots of fun!

Please fill out this form if you would like to register for Pedal Power. No prior mountain biking experience is needed! Note that a Participant Agreement and the Waiver & Release of Liability Agreement must be on file in order for riders to attend the Pedal Power event (link below). You do NOT have to fill this out if your child attended the April 9, 2022 Pedal Power event OR if you have already registered this participant for another New River Valley Youth Cycling Alliance (NRVYCA) program.

All participants must have a properly sized bike helmet. Instructors will assist with helmet adjustments. Please email nrvyca@gmail.com if you don't have a helmet for your rider and cannot purchase one.
