Topic Sign Up Fall 2022
Hi everyone!

This form will allow you to select from various topics that we have come up with (or you can also include your own ideas for topics) based on your interests. From these responses we will assign people to groups based on the types of people that sign up for each group.

Here's what we mean:
  • There are many different types of artists (e.g. traditional pen-and-paper, canvas artists, digital artists, and many more!)
  • There are also many of you who are interested more in the science side of these projects (which we will explain below).
  • To give everyone a chance to contribute, we will assign 1 or more traditional artists to either create the entire work of art or create only the outline of the art for either another traditional artist or a digital artist to color in and complete. Based on the complexity of the piece, there may be more than 1 digital and traditional artist assigned to each group.

The purpose of having digital artists is to make the pieces more easily presentable through social media and our website, giving our viewers the best possible viewing experience; however, paintings done on canvas and drawings on papers can easily be scanned or photographed in high quality, so we are open to these as well!

The researcher member of the group will be in charge of helping with the planning of the actual piece (if they would like to), but also finding literature online; this literature will include both trusted websites with more information on the topic drawn itself as well as further reading for additional information that relates to the topic. For example, a drawing about antibiotics could have a peer-reviewed paper attached explaining allosteric binding sites even if these were not discussed in the drawing. The reasoning for this is to encourage general audiences to search for more information about topics they are interested in rather than just listening to what they see online. By encouraging this curiosity, they can become greater intellectuals and learn more about science and medicine while also critically thinking about the sources they come across during their research.

From this experience, we hope our audiences obtains a greater appreciation for research and also gain a greater understanding of many topics they may have come across before but have not really understood.

Thank you for joining us on this journey!
