Black DEHEM Twitter Takeover Form
Hello, thank you for expressing interest in doing a Twitter Takeover of @DisInHigherEd during Black Disabled Empowerment  in Higher Education Month (Black DEHEM)! We are looking for Black and/or Indigenous disabled individuals/people with disabilities that are in higher education/academia or have been in college or experienced some kind of higher education at some point in their life to do Twitter takeovers during the month of February 2021.

Below are a few questions to help us get to know you and help us with organizing. We take your privacy seriously, and no one outside our team will see your information. Mandatory questions are marked with an asterix (*).

You are not required to disclose your disability, if you would not like to. We recognize disclosure as a personal decision and so, many may feel better not disclosing your disability. We also recognize self-diagnosis are valid disabilities, so those who are self-diagnosed are welcome to do a takeover. People of all personal and academic backgrounds are encouraged to takeover our profile.

You do not have to disclose your name/identity if you don't want to during your Twitter Takeover. We recognize that sometimes people feel more comfortable and it is less risky speaking up when you do so anonymously.

Whether anonymous or non-anonymous, we do ask if you would provide some sort of biography just so our followers have an understanding of your academic background or any other relevant work you do. This information can be as broad or specific as you would like.

We do require that those taking over the @DisInHigherEd account make their tweets/content as accessible as possible (e.g. alt-text for images, videos with open/closed captions, accessible fonts, good color contrast on graphics).

Once you are selected, one of our team members will reach out to you via email with the information about when the takeover will be and our guidelines for Twitter Takeovers. We may also ask you for a short bio and photo so that we can introduce your takeover of the account.

If we cannot fit you into a spot for a Twitter Takeover during the month of February 2021, then we will invite you to do a Twitter Takeover following Black DEHEM. You will be notified of this possibility via email.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us via email at disabledinhighered@gmail.com or DM us on Twitter at @DisInHigherEd.
