KCC is a 100% parent-run cooperative playgroup for children aged 18 months to 4 years old. We depend on the active participation of parents to work both as caregivers and perform additional job roles to keep KCC functioning smoothly. Before you apply, please read the list of requirements below and consider if you would be able to commit to this level of involvement with our community.
Parents in KCC will...• Work as caregivers in the classroom one day per week
• Perform an additional job role throughout the year (Treasurer, Classroom Manager, etc.)
• Have a flexible childcare arrangement so that a parent is available to come pick up their child during the morning if the caregivers are unable to resolve issues that arise (e.g. physical aggression, severe separation anxiety, etc.)
• Have a flexible childcare arrangement to have the ability to swap caregiving shifts with others as needed
• Attend General Meetings (held on Zoom) and Cleaning Nights (in-person) on a monthly basis for 1-2 hours
• Communicate on a daily basis with the group using the Slack app and email
• Pay ~$500 a semester to support KCC's operations
• Provide an organic fruit or vegetable snack every 3 weeks
Applicants will be offered spots (if available) on a first-come, first-served, non-discriminatory basis. After you complete this application, you'll receive instructions on setting up a tour to see the program. Your application will not be complete until you complete the tour.
