A. Share your thoughts
We know that most established journals and book publishers are western-centric. If you research non-western contexts (or know others who do), please tell us what you think individual researchers, departments, associations, and editors/publishers can do to correct this imbalance. These are some of the questions you could address:
— Many journals have tried to internationalise their content. What are the most promising approaches you've seen, and what do you think does not work?
— What remaining blindspots among editors, reviewers and others hinder further de-westernisation in publishing? How might such obstacles be addressed?
— Many universities use journal metrics to assess
faculty performance. But journal impact factors overlook journals'
western-centricism. Are there ways for departments to use metrics without perpetuating biases against non-western work?
