We will create a group chat through GroupMe for all volunteers. When there has been a request for delivery, Pastor Anna will share that request in the group.
1. The first person to respond that they are able and willing to make that delivery will then receive a separate text from Pastor Anna with the contact information for that person and whether they are able to cover the cost of their groceries.
2.If you are volunteering, please monitor your own health each day. If you are running a fever, have a cough, are struggling to breath, or are experiencing any other symptom of ANY illness, please do not volunteer until you are certain that you have fully recovered. We are asking volunteers to wash their hands before and after making a delivery, and if possible, to wear gloves while they touch the items.
3.At the store, once you have a receipt, take a picture of it and email it to Carolyn Donnelly at
carolyn@dgfumc.org with the subject line DELIVERY ASSISTANCE: (name of whom you assisted). This will allow us to reimburse you for the groceries, unless you do not want to be reimbursed and would prefer to donate.
4.Put the receipt in the grocery bags after you've taken a picture.
5. When you are bringing the items to a person's home, you will have instructions as to whether you should ring the doorbell or give them a call to let them know that the items are in front of their door. If they have informed us that they are able to pay, they will pick up those groceries and find the receipt. They will write a check and put it under a paperweight where you dropped off the groceries.
6.Once they are back inside, pick up the check. Checks can be mailed to the church at anytime and I can let the group know of times when they may drop off the check(s) at the church.
