Review of Jazz In England Musicians’ -Questionnaire
Thank you for taking part in this survey which will inform A Review of Jazz in England. This survey and review is conducted by Chris Hodgkins on behalf of a governmental cross-party organisation, the All-Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group. It is hoped that the Review may bring about a better understanding of the issues and opportunities for jazz in England and amongst other things, gain further support from national government, including funding and support. Understanding the musicians in jazz is central to those aims.

The musicians survey covers the following areas: (1) your career in jazz (2) subscriptions and professional memberships (3) your gigs in 2019 (4) gig fees (5) your earnings from music (6) your earnings from abroad and impact of Brexit (7) sponsorship and funding (8) your online presence (9) jazz in the media (10) your music sales (11) the impact of COVID-19 (12) your music business training and lastly (13) some questions about you.

This survey is open to all musicians working partly or fully in jazz, whether as a professional, semi professional or amateur musician. The questionnaire will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. If you would like help in filling the form there is an email address and phone number at the end of this section  We don’t ask for any personal details or other data that may identify you, and any answers you do give will only be used for the purposes of the Review of Jazz in England. We do need the information so that we can measure progress against previous surveys in 2006 and 2010

It is possible to opt-in to receive updates about the Review, requiring only an email address, which will be held in strictest confidence and not published in the report or survey findings.

The data harvested will be handled in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), 2018, and will not be given or sold to any third parties; its sole purpose is to provide insight for the purposes of a Review of Jazz in England.
