Do you want to discuss/debate a novel approach to carbon storage (i.e., long-term biomass
storage) that's being developed in the Bay Area?
Do you want to learn about how you can start a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit with a
climate-related mission so that you can raise money from the general public, governments, and/
or philanthropic foundations (and not worry about profits, business models, or investors)?
If you answered "yes" to either question above, you may be interested in the discussion that
Work on Climate will be hosting with John Lin on Thursday 1/21 at 10:30-11:30 am.
John Lin is the founder and President of Exaquest Carbon (
www.exaquest.org), a new 501(c)(3) scientific research nonprofit that is developing technologies that will allow carbon to be stored for long periods of time in the form of biomass. John previously worked as a commercial litigator (after earning his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006) but then decided in 2011 to go back to school to study Chemical Engineering so that he could help develop technological solutions to stop climate change. He received his 2nd bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the City College of New York in 2015. He was then a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University from 2015 until 2019, when he decided to leave Stanford with his M.S. in Chem. Eng. to found Exaquest Carbon. John's research at Stanford focused on the electrochemical conversion of CO2 to useful fuels and chemicals as part of the US Department of Energy's Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis.
