This year EDTV will be working with PCIS students to create a broadcast news show at your school! Similar to PNN at the high school level, students will develop, film, and edit stories to share the amazing things that are happening within PCIS.

Participants in the program will meet weekly on Mondays after school where they will learn the skills used to develop broadcast news stories. While most of the process will take place during the weekly after school meetings, participants in the program might, from time to time, need to come out of their class in order to film/cover school events. These times will be at the discretion of the principal and teachers. Students will be responsible for making up any missed class work due to this. Additionally, participants in the program must remain in good academic standing to be a member of the news team.

Because of the availability of equipment, only a limited number of students will be able to participate. However, this does not mean your child will not be involved in the show. All students will have the opportunity to participate in interviews, special stories, and programs during their time at PCIS.

Attached is an application to participate in the news show program. Please have your child answer the questions thoroughly. Unfortunately, filling out this application does not guarantee your child will be a member of the news team. Applications that are completed by 9:00pm on January 27th will be used to select the students in the program.
 
Video production is a collaborative effort. Working in teams is non negotiable. You must be able to respectfully give and graciously receive critiques of your work and the work of your fellow students. Some of students may prefer to be on camera, others behind the camera, and others still on the computers editing. Students will be expected to try your hardest in each different aspect of the production and post production processes. As a group we will draw from each other’s strengths and build upon each other’s weaknesses.

Please note that this club is parent pick up only! There will be no late buses. We look forward to continuing the broadcast news program at your school!

By filling out this application, I give permission for my child to apply to participate in Falcon TV. As a student, I understand that in order to participate, I must complete all of my school assignments and remain in good academic standing.
