AP Physics Request (24-25)
You must complete this form to request placement into AP Physics for the 2024-25 school year.

Course Description and Prerequisites

AP Physics 1 is designed as a second-year physics course for students who have taken Physics with Two-Dimensions or Linear Physics. It is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics through classroom study, in-class activity, and hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory work as they explore concepts like systems, fields, force interactions, change, and conservation.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of Physics w/ Two Dimensions; completion of Algebra II with a grade of A or completion of Honors Algebra II with a grade of B or above; and permission of instructor. Students who have met math prerequisites but who have not completed Physics w/Two Dimensions at AFS will be required to pass a placement test to receive permission to take the course.
