2023 Kaleidoscope Fashion Show Entry Form
Update: The deadline to submit designs has been extended to November 22nd.

The Future of Hope: A fusion of fiber, texture, color and sustainability.

Fashion trends are changing constantly, in the world of knit and crochet. We want to see your new, original designs!

We are looking for eight designers, of any age or background, to be a part of the Kaleidoscope Fashion Show at Knitting LIVE New York on Saturday, February 11, 2023. The judges represent  a wide range of backgrounds, and work together to find garments that are the best fusion of fiber, texture, and color. Check out this link to see the NYC 2020 Kaleidoscope Fashion Show.

Submitted designs will be judged by the coaches; Brooklyn Boy Knits (Louis Boria), Bretony Boheme (Bre Sells Seashells),  and Cairo Romaguera (Cairo Designs). All entries will be judged anonymously. Accepted designers will be paired with one of the coaches (along with Nancy Ricci from Getting Purly With It), to help them refine their designs and get them show-ready. Two designers will be assigned to each coach. Coaches will check in with their designers once a month (virtually for 30 minutes, both designers will be on the call together with their coach). The accepted designers' final pieces will walk the runway in the Kaleidoscope Fashion Show. All finalists will have one garment featured in a future issue of Vogue Knitting; garments featured will be at the discretion of Vogue Knitting.

The Submission Rules & Guidelines
Who says knit and crochet can only be done with fiber? In this fashion show, we invite our designers to think outside the box--you have the option of incorporating different textiles, like leather and suede (or vegan), beading, wire, and more. Our goal for this fashion show is to push the boundaries of crochet and knitting, while embracing missions that are importance to us: diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability.

With this in mind, we invite you to design for bodies of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Consider how your design would work on a body in a seated position, for example. We encourage designers to embrace the full spectrum of gender and challenge the gendering of garments with their design. Furthermore, we would like you to address and embrace sustainability in your designs. Repurposing and upcycling of materials is encouraged!

Parameters:
- Each designer must submit two pieces for consideration
- Pieces must be a sweater, jacket/coat, or gown/dress (think couture!)
- One garment must be sized to fit a chest circumference in the range of 30 to 44 inches.
- One garment must be sized to fit a chest circumference in the range of 45 to 60 inches (larger than 60 inches will also be accepted).

For each design, please submit enough information for us to get a complete understanding of your design intent. The application will prompt you for sizing details, gauge information, yarn details and techniques use. Plus photos of complete sketches (front and back) will need to be emailed.

Each design must be an original design created by you, not previously published elsewhere. Please note that submission of a design does not guarantee your design will be selected for Kaleidoscope.

All entries must be received by November 1, 2022 at 11:59 PM. Update: The deadline to submit designs has been extended to November 22nd. Designers selected for the Kaleidoscope Fashion Show by the panel of judges will be notified starting November 14. If you do not hear from Vogue Knitting by November 14, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected. Selected designers will hear from their coaches by week of November 14, and work on the final pieces will commence. High-resolution photographs of the finished pieces must be submitted by January 9 to be included in the fashion show program, or we will include your original sketch. The finished garments are due to the Vogue Knitting offices no later than January 16.

Vogue Knitting and Soho Publishing LLC are not responsible for shipping costs or any loss or tampering to the garment during shipping or at Knitting LIVE, though we will take every care to handle the garment delicately. At the conclusion of the Kaleidoscope Fashion Show, designers are able to take their garments with them, and Vogue Knitting will not own any rights to the garment or the pattern.

Finalists are not required to attend Knitting LIVE New York, and Vogue Knitting is not responsible for transportation, lodging, or meals.

Vogue Knitting and Soho Publishing LLC does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by law.
