This training module is a product of the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Division of Licensing and Background Checks (DLBC).

Child care providers are required to complete this training module before being issued a license, certificate, or an approved exemption from Child Care Licensing (CCL).

Only new providers are required to complete this training module. The provider is the person or business who holds a valid license, certificate, or exemption from CCL.

Provider designees, new employees, and new directors are not required to complete this training module. Provider designees are required to complete provider designee training. New employees are required to complete preservice training. New directors are required to complete new director training.

New providers will only need to complete this training module if their program is required to be licensed or approved for an exemption by CCL.

The following program types do not require a license, certificate, or exemption from CCL:

Care is provided on no more than 2 days during any calendar week.
Care is provided in the home of the provider for less than 4 hours a day, or fewer than 7 unrelated children in the home at one time.
Care provided in the home of the provider is on a sporadic basis only.
Care is provided by a facility or program owned or operated by an agency of the United States government.
The program is a group counseling provided by a mental health therapist who is licensed to practice in this state.
The program is a health care facility that is licensed under Title 26B-2-4: Child Care Licensing.
Care is provided at a residential support program that is licensed by the department.

If your program meets any condition described above, you will not be required to complete this training module.

You may complete this training module at your own pace. It will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete the entire training module.
