2023 DECA District 5 Judge Registration Form
WHAT: 2022 DECA District 5 Conference
SCHOOLS: Students from Arapahoe, Bear Creek, Chatfield, Columbine, Conifer, Dakota Ridge, Evergreen, St. Mary's, and Littleton will be competing.
WHEN: Thursday, November 16, 2023 Judges are asked to check in at 7:30 a.m. Event concludes at approximately 2:00 p.m. for judges.
WHERE: Douglas County Fairgrounds and Events Center. Located at 500 Fairgrounds Drive, Castle Rock, CO 80104, north of Plum Creek Parkway. Judges registration, breakfast and briefing will take place in the Events Center Conference Room. Judge's parking is available in the lot just south of the Events Center
MEALS: Donuts and coffee will be provided. We also invite you to join us for a complimentary luncheon after the competition is finished, prior to our conference awards session.
OVERVIEW OF THE COMPETITION: Students will have a brief period of time to analyze a business scenario and develop a solution to the task or challenge outlined in their scenario. These scenarios will typically involve a sales, promotion or operations situation or related customer service concerns. Students will then have up to 8 minutes to meet with a judge and present their response in an interactive “role playing” format.
JUDGE’S RESPONSIBILITIES: Each judge will be given a “section” of approximately 8 to 14 competitors. Each competitor will be attempting to solve the identical business challenge. Judges will be provided with a copy of the challenge, suggestions about how to interact with the competitors and a detailed, task-specific score sheet for each student. It a nutshell, you will interact with each student and then score and rank them based on how well they accomplished the tasks listed on the score sheets.
JUDGES TRAINING: A brief yet thorough training will be provided for our judges prior to the competition. We will provide you with all the help you need to work with our students at this competition.
