Hemlock woolly adelgid(HWA) is an invasive insect that kills hemlock trees. Hemlock trees are vital to the health of our forests. They provide the foundation of the ecosystems they exist in. They provide food and shelter to wildlife and provide many eco-services that benefit people and nature.

On December 3rd, from 1pm-2pm EST we will host a webinar is to recruit volunteers to keep an eye out for HWA. Attendees will learn to recognize signs of an HWA infestation and report observations using a mobile app, and a google map of public hiking trails that have hemlocks along the path will be available.

The last about an hour and would cover all you need to know to be able to recognize HWA, report observations using a free mobile app, and provide a list of public hiking trails to visit in search of HWA.
