2024 Teacher Advisory Council Application

The American Civil War Museum is looking for 12 teachers from across the United States for our Teacher Advisory Council. We want educators who:

  • Are interested in shaping how their fellow teachers and students engage with history. 
  • Teach at any grade level, but especially those who cover content related to the American Civil War.
  • Are enthusiastic about helping our organization create excellent, relevant, and useful offerings for teachers and their students, for use on-site at the museums and in the classroom.
  • Can help shape our vision for how we want to best serve educators and their students.
  • Are flexible, creative, innovative, and reflective.

Responsibilities:
  • 6-month participation commitment, estimated at up to 12 hours total active time, including time worked outside of meetings.
  • Monthly meetings, occurring January - May.
  • Advise, evaluate, and assist museum staff in the development and implementation of museum offerings for teachers and students, including field trip programs, teacher professional development, and online resources for classroom use.
  • Help grow the scope of the Teacher Advisory Council and shape its function for future years.
