Bus Form #1  - Ohauiti Road (901A)
Welcome to the Maungatapu School Bus service. Our bus service is managed and run through the ‘Tauranga Network Group for School Transport’ for rural areas and Tauranga Regional Council Schoolhopper in the urban areas.  

The following information pertains to the urban bus route.  Please see the following website for any additional information https://www.baybus.co.nz 

Schoolhoppers drop off and pick up children from the school bus bay.  In the afternoon, all bus children will meet in front of the library and a roll will be called.

Who is responsible for my child between my front door and the school gate?

-The journey children take to get to school is a shared responsibility between parents, schools, the bus company and the child. The bus company is responsible for providing a safe bus and a qualified bus driver. Schools are responsible for providing bus lists, managing loadings and following up on reports of disruptive behaviour or vandalism.

Please ensure your child knows where to go/get on and off - this may require an adults assistance for the first couple of days

What happens if a student misbehaves on a bus?

- If the bad behaviour is serious (is a major distraction to the driver or puts other passengers at risk), the student may be stood down from the bus for a period of time. For less serious behaviours, a student may receive a warning. We will contact you in this situation.Please talk with your child/children about safe and respectful behaviour on the bus and the consequences for these behaviours. Should you have any queries, concerns and issues I am more than happy to work with you towards a resolution.

Bee Cards

- Bee cards are required to be used on the bus and can be obtained through the Tauranga City Council. Load your child’s date of birth onto the card (online) and they will receive free travel.
