We maintain a Google Sheet of both veteran and pen pal information (names, contact info, interests/background) to help us ensure that veterans are paired with pen pals who have similar backgrounds or experiences. This sheet also allows us to record veteran-pen pal matches so we can rematch participants if necessary.
There is no obligation for the amount of letters that your veterans must send or the length of time that you must participate. If you can no longer participate, please reach out.

Matches are made by our 100% volunteer organization. At any given time there is a 2-3 week wait for a match. You will receive a welcome email from vppp@itsamilitarylife.org when you get your match, so add that email to your contact list or your welcome email might end up in your spam folder!
Veteran Pen Pal Project is a program of the 501c3 nonprofit organization It’s a Military Life Corporation. Those involved in the match program are responsible for participating honorably without soliciting, requesting for money or giving of money, and corresponding appropriately. Those that violate those standards of the program will be removed from participating immediately. It’s a Military Life Corporation and the volunteers of Veteran Pen Pal Project are not liable for what occurs during the corresponding between matches, but will intervene if a match is not following expectations of our program.
