VBC is a volunteer chorale that celebrated it's 60th year in 2018. We look forward to singing with you! Because you already sing with an auditioned group, we're delighted to invite you to join us without an audition. Simply come to new member orientation and stay for your first rehearsal immediately after.

New members should attend an orientation session on August 28, at 6 p.m., at Thalia UMC (4321 Virginia Beach Blvd.). We will meet in the choir room, which is most easily accessed by parking behind the church and entering through the main rear door.

Rehearsals are held Mondays beginning August 28, 2023, at Thalia UMC, from 7-9:30 p.m. Section leaders will take attendance each week. A member who misses more than 3 rehearsals may be required to appear before the audition committee to review repertoire preparatory level.

The Virginia Beach Chorale performs two major concerts per year, in December and in May at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, other performance opportunities may occur at other venues throughout the year. Our holiday concert is scheduled for December 9, 2022, at 7 p.m.

Membership dues are required of all members. Specific information about dues will be provided at new member orientation on 8/28.

Members are responsible for their concert attire. For the upcoming season we will wear all black with a possible accessory that will be easy for members to obtain directly or purchased by VBC and then sold to members for convenience at a reasonable cost. Costuming requirements are subject to change each season, and members will be notified of said requirements in a timely manner.

All members are required to sign a Membership Agreement, a Media Release Form, and a COVID-19 Liability Waiver. Moreover, our rehearsal space (Thalia UMC) currently requires that all singers be vaccinated. Therefore, new members will have to show a current vaccination card on or before August 28. (That mandate will be discussed at the July board meeting and may change.) Members are strongly urged to get a booster shoot when recommended by the CDC.
