District Camporee Apr 19-21 '24

What: Camporee is a districtwide event promoting Scout skills and fun. It is meant to be used by the troops as one means of measuring progress in developing their Scouts. Camporee will provide competition events for each patrol.  This year's theme is "Pixar Mania". 

Plan
:  
Meet at Coast Christian Fellowship at 6pm on Friday. We will return approximately 11am on Sunday to the In-N-Out on Crenshaw Blvd at Skypark.  We will arrive on Friday night at the Camporee site to check in. Saturday will be for various camporee activities, ending with a campfire. On Sunday, we plan to leave the site by 10am. 

Where: Firestone Scouts Reservation, 19001 Tonner Canyon Rd, Brea, California 92821.  Take the 91 freeway east to the 57 freeway north and exit Tonner Canyon. At Tonner Canyon Rd, turn left at the stop sign and follow the signs to the camp. The entrance to the campsite is at the first stop sign next to the first Camp Courage sign. If you get to the Firestone Camp entrance, you’ve passed it. 
Go directly to the Camporee site to check-in. You do not have to go to the Trading Post.

When:  Friday – Sunday, April 19-21, 2024.

Bring:  All regular camping equipment for a car camp, including your 10 essentials. Bring your full Class A uniform and Class B (= green troop T-shirt). Scouts and Scouters are expected to wear their Class A for the opening ceremony and the interfaith worship service Sunday morning. Class B to be worn at all other times during the Camporee.

Bring money for In-N-Out on Sunday. Please eat or bring your dinner before meeting at the church on Friday.  Food by patrols for Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast.

Patrol Flag: Each patrol is required to bring a patrol flag with a Pixar theme.

Forms: in addition to filling out this online sign up form, parents have to complete these 2 forms (please print out):
1. Parental Commitment to Transport, and
2. CA Rifle & Shotgun Permission (2 copies: 1 to be submitted at check in, 1 to show to rangemaster if asked)

Help: Only BSA-registered adults are permitted at this event. WE WILL NEED DRIVERS.
No guests or other family members are allowed.  No siblings on this trip

Fee: $60 for scouts and $40 for adults.  Fees cover campsite use, patch, awards and activities.  Fees do not cover meals or camping gears.

The Scout named in this form has my permission to participate in the District Camporee, April 19-21, 2024. Any of the Troop's adult leaders have my permission to seek medical treatment for my son in case of illness, injury or accident. I hereby give my permission to the physician selected by the adult leader in charge to hospitalize, secure proper anesthesia, order injection or surgery for my son in accordance with the provisions of Section 25.8 of the civil code of the state of California. Under no circumstances whatsoever will we hold liable or make a claim against Troop 413 or any of its officers, leaders or agents for any accidents, injury, first aid rendered, treatment, drugs, medicine or surgical procedures performed in accordance with participation in the above activity. We acknowledge that this activity falls under the Troop 413 Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement as well as the continuing acknowledgment, permission slip and release both of which we have previously signed. I have discussed with my son the Troop Conduct Guidelines, and we agree to be bound by that policy. As a parent I will immediately drive out to the camp if the Scoutmaster or Troop Leader requests that I do so. I will be on time to pick-up my son and will leave an alternative number in case I do not plan to be available at home.
