Assessment
Thank you for your interest in the Author Architect program! As a writer and creative myself, it took me years of study, research, and perseverance to figure out exactly how to make a comfortable full-time living as an authorpreneur. It shouldn't be that way. Writers and creatives should have equitable access to the workforce and to meaningful and fulfilling careers, which is why I created the Author Architect program, where I help five creatives each year build their platform, publish their book(s), and reach their goals so they can become working creatives, a.k.a. fulfill their purpose.

For this program to be successful for you, we have to make sure we're the perfect match! This program will require that we get to know each other really well, so this assessment is the first step of that process. Please answer these questions as honestly as possible. You don't have to fear any judgment at all! Your honest answers help me formulate the perfect program for your specific needs, lifestyle, and habits. Once submitted, I will review your answers and reach out to you with next steps!

Thank you for being here. Thank you for investing in yourself as a creative person. I can't wait to see where this journey takes us!

Happy writing,
Amanda

Please provide links to all of your social media and/or your social media handles on each platform (if applicable).
Which are you? *
Do you openly identify as a "writer" or "author"? Or do you keep your writing life to yourself? *
Tell me more about yourself! Would love to hear ANYTHING about you that you're comfortable sharing with me - what you do for a living, who you live with, if you have pets (I have two dogs who are my whole world!), if you have any funky quirks, what kind of music you love, or who your favorite artists are, etc. Anything at all! (Or maybe you're a super private person. I get that, too. Just let me know!) *
Have you ever written a book before (even if you've never been published)? If so, how many? Tell me just a little bit about them (1-2 sentences about each). *
What genre is your current book project? *
In 500-800 words, please provide a full synopsis of your current book project that includes information about the plot, the setting, your characters, your intentions with the story, and the parts you feel like you're struggling with. For memoir, please provide the same information by describing yourself, your story, and anyone else represented in your book. If you're writing nonfiction and/or self-help, please provide information about the structure of your manuscript as well as a specific description of how you are engaging/plan to engage your topic. *
What are your dream goals with this project? What seems attainable and what seems unattainable? Do you hope to traditionally publish or self-publish this project and why? (If you're not sure which route might be best for you, just say so! You'll learn everything you need to know about each path in the Author Architect program.) *
Are you interested in becoming a full-time writer or creative? Or are you happy at your current day job and just looking to build your platform as a published author, or maybe your side hustle as a part-time entrepreneur/authorpreneur? What's your vision for your perfect work life?
Please list any previous publications. This can include, but is not limited to, previously published books (traditionally published or self-published), pieces published by literary magazines, and/or features about you and your work in the media. Brag about yourself! Please provide links to these if possible. *
Have you ever worked with a publicist or marketing agency before? *
If you answered yes, please tell me about your experience with them:
Are you interested in securing paid speaking engagements? Or would you like to conduct public workshops? Are there other services you think about providing or facilitating? Please also list any previous experience in these areas. *
Besides writing, what are your other hobbies, interests, or areas of expertise? *
Describe your writing habits. Do you write everyday? Only when the mood hits you? Do you write consistently or in spurts? How much do you typically write in a sitting? (Hint: It's better to be honest here. I have absolutely no judgment! But I need to assess your current writing routine so we can create alignment with your goals.) *
Tell me WHY you write. Feel free to get straight to the point or to wax poetically about why writing is important to you. *
If you're being honest, how well do you handle constructive criticism? Do you think making significant revisions to your manuscript will be tough? (Don't be scared to say YES!) And while we're on the subject, what about rejection (especially if you're interested in pursuing traditional publishing)? Are you ready to patiently persevere and wade through a few hurdles together to reach your goals? *
What brought you to the Author Architect program and what are your expectations (and hopes!) for our work together? *
Thank you for making your way through this questionnaire! Lastly, the Author Architect program requires a significant time commitment (and, in some cases, depending on the specifics of your project and personal situation, a significant emotional commitment). You can expect a weekly coaching call with me + a team of professionals working on your behalf behind the scenes while you are writing. You'll receive weekly assignments and writing expectations, but you'll also receive an accountability partner, access to a multitude of resources, and a reliable coach who's eager to lead you. Are you ready to carve time out of your schedule to work towards your goals during the course of this program? *
