STUDENT CONTRACT
I understand that joining the cast and crew of a Kingswood Theater Production is a serious commitment of time and energy.   I understand that failure to uphold my own responsibilities during both the rehearsal period, as well as the performance period, greatly affects not only my own performance, but my fellow cast and crew- mates as well.  I understand that there are no temporary or permanent replacements for my role.  I understand my failure to follow through on this commitment means the possibility of ruining the show for all other cast and crew member, as well as for the audience.  I understand that the regulations set forth in this agreement are to aid me in achieving the best I can.

I also understand that Theater is an activity that promotes individual and group growth, friendship and family, self-esteem, professional work ethic, as well as knowledge and appreciation of the performing arts.  Theater should bring joy to my life and to the people I work with.

THEATER PROGRAM RULES
As a member of the cast and/or crew, I hereby agree to the following:

- I will attend all rehearsals and meetings that require my participation as listed on the schedule.  (See below appendix below for acceptable/unacceptable reasons for absence from rehearsal.)
- I will fully attend all rehearsals from November 8 - 12 (Tech Week Rehearsals)
- I will fully attend all rehearsals from November 15 - 18 (Production Week Rehearsals)
- I will fully attend the performances on November 19, 20, & 21 (Performance Week), being on time to call time.
- Communicate effectively to the director so he knows well ahead of a rehearsal about needs and/or absences.
- Effectively communicate my responsibilities to the show/program ahead of time to my family so they properly understand what I have committed to.
- I will read all weekly e-mails, and be responsible for all information distributed to me.
- Turn in paperwork such as permission slips and medical forms by the due date or earlier.
- Be on time (2:30 p.m.) to all conventional rehearsals and crew times.
- Be properly prepared for all rehearsals and crew times, including but not limited to having highlighted my lines and stage action, brought a pencil for script notes, and - if scheduled - have effectively memorized my lines/music.
- Work and behave in a professional manner during all rehearsal and meeting time, being considerate of others, careful to pay attention and not be a distraction.
- Act and communicate respectfully to all others involved, supporting my fellow students remembering that each of us has our own gifts and faults.
- Stay positive at each of our rehearsals and in general about our project.
- Be open to critique, not take it personally, internalize the feedback, focus efforts on taking that direction, and be ready to be pushed out of my comfort zone for the benefit of my personal and professional growth.  Remember that if I don’t get a note, that’s a compliment.
- Maintain my school work and grades, understanding that school, not theater, comes first.  I will budget my time properly and not procrastinate on classwork and homework.  To that end, I will use my role in the play as a reason as to why an assignment is not completed.

APPENDIX
Acceptable Reasons for Absence from Rehearsals and Crew Times
- Sick from school/early dismissals due to illness
- Field Trips
- Absences cleared at the beginning of the rehearsal schedule
- Family emergencies
- Extra help from teachers (Note: Excessive occurrences of this may warrant dismissal from show in order to keep grades healthy.)

NOTE: No matter what the reason for absence, excessive absences can result in dismissal from show.  The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.

Examples of unacceptable Absences from Theater
- Social/family engagements that were not cleared at the beginning of the production
- Other obligations that a student enrolls him/herself in that conflict with the schedule AFTER auditioning for the cast or signing-up for the crew.
- TECH WEEK
- PRODUCTION WEEK

I understand that if I cannot live up to these expectations, Mr. Giessler may need to replace me if the situation allows.

If there is a sudden emergency and I cannot attend rehearsal, I will do my best to get a message to Mr. Giessler prior to the start of rehearsal that day either in person, by email, the Remind app, or by leaving a message in the office.  I will not ask another student to be my messenger.

GWRSD Attendance Policy
I understand that district policy dictates that I will not be permitted to participate in any Theater function (rehearsal or performance) on a day that I am absent from school.  If the absence is unauthorized (truant), or due to a suspension from school, eligibility returns upon completion of the next day of attendance.  (Example:  If a student is not in school on Friday, they may NOT participate again until after school on Monday.)

As a member of the production, I agree to participate in the producing of the play.  More specifically, I promise to assist as crew for publicity, costuming, props, set construction, and/or any other responsibilities that may be needed to make the show a success.

I agree with all of the statements in this contract and to adhere to the responsibilities listed. Finally, I certify this agreement with my signature.
