This is an auction for one hour of coaching, where the theme of the coaching is (reasonably loosely) based on the piece "How to do everything" (http://drmaciver.substack.com/p/how-to-do-everything).

The auction is run as a Vickrey Auction (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickrey_auction), which is to say that what you bid is not necessarily what you pay: You actually pay the largest value that you outbid. For example, if you with with a bid of £100 and the highest bid below that was £60, you pay £60. If on the other hand two people bid £100, I will break the tie arbitrarily, and the winner will pay £100.

The mechanism of a Vickrey auction ensures that the best strategy is always to bid what exactly the value of the auctioned item to you: If you bid more than that value, and someone ends up bidding less than you but more than your desired value, you will end up paying more than it's worth. If you bid less, someone may outbid you and win the auction when you were willing to pay more.

Note that you are allowed to bid £0, but it probably won't work - feel free to submit a low bid, but there's usually at least a couple of paid bids so a £0 bid is unlikely to win. Also, if you submit a bid and think better of it, feel free to email me to have it withdrawn.

Bidding will close at 12:00 UK time on 2021-05-11, and I will notify the winner then.
