This survey acknowledges the need for updating the METU (Middle East Technical University) course registration process, where the AEGEE-Ankara is based on. To modernize the system and voice our opinions, we require data from various universities and departments across the globe to compare and contrast the current registration system at hand.

Which of the following are provided to you during course registration? *

Waitlist - is used to prioritize enrollment when seats become available

Course Planner (Course Scheduler) - helps visualize the enrolled courses in a weekly schedule and whether any courses are overlapping one another.

Course Searcher - a tool to seek for the eligible courses that are provided by your departments.

Reserved seats for courses - some courses may reserve seats for freshman, departmental majors, or transfer students

Being able to swap courses - the option of exchanging a course a student has already enrolled in for another one they want to enroll.

Tickets provided by the course instructor - special codes (or tickets) that allow students to acquire enrollment in the course.

By a bidding process - Students are given certain amount of coins at the beginning of the enrollment process, which they later use to bid on and enroll in desired courses. This process can be done by either auction or a list of preference (from the most desired to the less desired course).

Can you tell us about the process of enrolling in elective courses? *

They're given out by lottery/randomly - Everyone who wishes to enroll has equal chances of acquiring a seat in the class.

Through GPA advantage - GPA (Grade Point Average) plays a massive part in who gets to register for the class - the higher the GPA, the more likely the student is able to enroll

Through grades of prerequisite courses - If the student has gotten higher grades on prerequisite courses on the elective, it is more likely that he gets to enroll in the class.

Through an optimization model - Each student provides a list of preference (from the most desired to the less desired course), which the system later uses to compare the lists and find the most desired courses for every student according to the list. Various techniques may be used when a course is desired by more students than the capacity lets them. Let us know.
