Conversations about care at Fresh Eye Gallery - June 25th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Come as you are for a community chat/tea time and share what CARE means to you, what forms of care you see happening in your community and how to extend these practices to our society. The liberating, empowering  words of queer, BIPOC disability activists, chronically ill artists and revolutionary healthcare practitioners, will be our conversation starters to discuss intersectionality, forms of resistance to capitalism and ableism and radical interdependence.

There will be tea and snacks, heating pads and comfy seating to encourage rest. Masking is also encouraged as a form of allyship to immunocompromised folks. The space welcomes forms of accessibility that are adaptive and responsive to participants' different needs. If you need accommodation, feel free to email me in advance at zoe.cinel@gmail.com!

No pre-reading is expected to attend this event, just an interest in sharing and listening. After the conversations you are welcome to attend a short demonstration on how to sew a DIY heating pad using recycled fabric and rice. Participants are welcome to take a small heating pad home.

Accessibility info: The building is wheelchair accessible with free street parking in the surroundings and limited parking on premises. The building is equipped with an accessible drop off spot directly in front of the gallery for participants using metro mobility or getting a ride. There are gender neutral bathrooms in the gallery.

The project is led by Zoe Cinel and supported by a 2023 - 2024 MRAC Arts Impact for Individual Grant.

Thanks to Fresh Eye Gallery for hosting!
Fresh Eye Gallery is a community art space in South Minneapolis.
We are dedicated to showcasing artwork by emerging and mid career artists, of all backgrounds and experience, and of all abilities. Fresh Eye Gallery was launched in June of 2021. As an extension of MSS’ fine arts studio program, Fresh Eye Arts, the gallery showcases work by artists with and without disabilities side by side in an effort to create a more inclusive community for all. We host exhibitions, events, have an art studio and gift shop. We also offer classes and professional development opportunities by partnering with teaching artists and guest curators.

This project is funded through a 2023 - 2024 MRAC Arts Impact for Individual Grant, supported by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
