Edot Mini-Grants Overview:

As part of our Edot planning for the next five year period, we are reorganizing, reallocating funds, and fundraising for new Edot initiatives and programs. Part of our funds redirection will go toward mini grants to our community. We believe that investing in grassroots changemaking efforts across our region will increase our overall impact.

Individuals and organizations may apply for Edot mini-grants of up to $2500 to support Midwest-centering activities with Jewish content that are led by Jews of Color, and that align with the Edot approach of investing in the leadership of Jews of Color, and increasing access to Jewish community life for Jews of Color and diverse Jewish families in our region.

Examples of fundable activities:

Catered meal and speaker fee for JOC speaker at a community Shabbat dinner

Reimbursement for costume costs for JOC performance

Examples of non-fundable activities:

Program that has no JOC leadership

Full funding for a $6,000 program

Need-based relief funds for individuals or families. For relief funds, please see https://edotmidwest.org/relief

Additional Information:

Edot will conduct two mini grant grantmaking cycles per year, one from August 1 to December 20, and one from February 1 to July 1.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and will be awarded based on fund availability. The amount of the mini grants fund will vary each cycle, according to our level of successful Edot fundraising.

Granting decisions will be made by a community circle of volunteers, to include Edot advisory board members.

Monies must not be used for illegal activities, or activities that otherwise do not align with the Edot approach and Edot’s values.

Grantees will submit short reports and photos or images for each grant received by a mutually agreed upon deadline.

Community members may apply for more than one activity per grant cycle, but no individual or group will be awarded more than $2500 per calendar year. This figure may change based on Edot budget and fundraising. Watch this webpage for the most up to date information on Edot mini grants.

PLEASE NOTE that all monies awarded to through the Edot mini grant program are taxable. Please consult with your tax advisor on how to plan for your taxes.
