šŸ’” Step 0:Ā Form a team of 2 or more people and formulate a project idea that your team wants to execute using SUSTA's resources to benefit Ukrainian American student community, diaspora, or Ukrainian nation.

We have a very simple and reasonable criteria for Candidates and Projects, see criteria.

āœļø Step 1: Submit this short Application with a brief proposal of your project attached (more information below). You can resubmit it as many times as you wish. We will offer feedback if your application is disqualified.

šŸŽ™ļø Step 2:Ā Pitch Your Project to SUSTA community (i.e. Congress) via a 5-minute presentation.

The team with the most votes from the Congress will become the Executive for the 2024-2025 term!


āš ļø The application is not the election itself. It is the first step for teams to flesh out their ideas and prepare to pitch their ideas during the live Election meeting. If an application is disqualified, we will offer feedback for Teams to resubmit!


šŸ“… Timeline:Ā Application deadline is May 15, 2024. The presentation will be virtual and live for audience in late May.

šŸ¤” About SUSTA Executive:

The SUSTA Executive is a group of students from American colleges who strive to support the Ukrainian American student community. They do this through projects and activities with small budget allocated by Board of Directors.Ā Annually, the student community votes to elect a new Executive for a term of one year through the Election accordingĀ to SUSTAā€™s Constitution.

Form structure is as follows:
  1. Basic info: team name.
  2. Project Criteria: confirm your project aligns with our criteria.
  3. Project Proposal Submission: you submit a document (or PDF, Slide Deck, etc.) of your project proposal. You can choose to submit the form without proposal submission to demonstrate interest and get support.
  4. Team Info: personal information of your 2 Candidates and the rest of your team.
This form should take no more than 10 minutes to fill. The proposal should not take more than 30 minutes to write.

Project Criteria
Demonstrate a positive impact or value to the Ukrainian American student community, either directly benefitting students or student organizations. Or extensively involving Ukrainian American students in the Project, which should benefit Ukrainian American diaspora or Ukrainian nation.

  1. The Projectā€™s end goal or significant milestone must be achievable within one year term of the Executive.
  2. Must solve or improve a need or a problem, even if other organizations are already working on the same specific problem or goal.
  3. The Projectā€™s goals and objectives must be within reach for the Executive Candidate Team and SUSTA.
  4. The Project can be at the idea stage or already in work.
  5. The Project should have no or minimal need for money or fundraising will be needed.

Keep in mind that not all criteria needs to be addressed. For example, you do not necessarily need to involve or hire students if your project's goal is to benefit students.

  • Briefly outline end goals, milestones, and expected timeline.Ā 
  • Also mention what resources you need (ideally) for success.Ā 
  • Finally, in a few sentences, tell us why you are motivated to do this and why you will succeed.
Please keep the proposal informal and simple. Do not spend too much time or overthink it. If the instructions are unclear or you are stuck, contact us ASAP!

  • Enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities or recently graduated within two years.
  • Commitment for the Ukrainian American student community, diaspora, and Ukrainian nation.
  • Leadership, community, or other relevant experience that is needed for the success of the proposed project.
  • Fluency in English and working proficiency in Ukrainian.
