Road to Resilience

This year's education platform is Resilience. With resilience, our youth can thrive in a changing the world. Resilience is key to overcoming adversity, adapting to change, and managing stress. Setbacks are inevitable. Resilience helps them bounce back.

Please create your workshop proposal with the Education Platform in mind.

Our educational workshops will be held in-person on Saturday, July 27th (1:00-5:00PM)

Workshops should be engaging to youth through a mixture of instruction and hands-on learning experiences.

Workshops should be designed to meet the goals of the conference:

1) Youth will improve personal leadership skills
2) Youth will improve knowledge of career pathways and college
3) Increased networks with 4-H members, adult volunteers and staff outside of their county

4) Participants will increase the leadership roles they take on in their counties.

We welcome all skilled presenters that are 4-H youth (16 and up), 4-H adult volunteers, 4-H staff, and members of the community.

The California 4-H State Leadership Conference is designed to grow the leadership abilities of Senior 4-H members (ages 14 +) and our Intermediate 4-H members (ages 11-13).

Civic Engagement- Encourages youth to become well-informed and engaged citizens of the world.

Healthy Living- Teaches youth to lead and guide others to healthy and productive lives, physically, mentally and emotionally, as they grow into adulthood.

4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)-Provides opportunities for youth to engage in the process of discovery and exploration while developing skills in these areas of study.

Positive Youth Development-The research-based approach we take in UC 4-H to intentionally provide both support and opportunities for members to reach their full potential and thrive.

Educational Workshops should also fall under one of the sub-categories below *

Leadership -Workshops should develop skills to intentionally provide guidance, direction, and management of self and others. Workshops should be focused on managing roles and responsibilities as a UC 4-H member and member of the community, resulting in teens taking on leadership at the county level through teens as teachers, teen leaders, or club officers.

Conflict Resolution and Communication – Through these workshops youth will improve their skills in resolving conflicts in positive ways and teamwork.

Youth Adult Partnerships- Workshops should inform and develop skills to work in a youth-adult partnership in which adults work in full partnership with young people within their projects and county programs.

Public Policy – Workshops should focus on activism, advocacy and how to make a positive change in your community.

Mentoring-Workshops should be focused on helping youth grow in their ability to seek mentors through youth-adult partnerships and grow in their ability to mentor others.

Facilitation-Workshops should be focused on effective strategies for leading meetings and events, parliamentary procedure, time management, etc.ption 7

Workforce Readiness - Workshops should provide insight and opportunities for members to explore college and career goals, how to fill out applications, write effective resumes, and interview skills.

Cultural Competence - Workshops will enhance youth’s skills in intercultural competency.
