Event Information
The 2022 CSG Team Saskatchewan Selection Trials will be used to determine nominations to the Sprint Canoe/Kayak Team which will represent Saskatchewan at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara Region, Ontario (August 14-22, 2022).

The date of the Selection Trials is Saturday, May 28 2022.

The Selection Trials Venue is Wascana Racing Canoe Club, Wascana Lake, Regina.

Competition Specifics
The competition is open to all athletes registered for 2022 with a recognized C.K.S. sprint member club, and:
whose permanent residence has been in Saskatchewan for at least six months prior to the Trials (from November 15, 2021).
and who were under 22 years of age as of January 1st, 2022 (born in 2000 or later).

To be eligible to compete, all entrants must be a member in good standing with their club and with Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan.  

To be eligible to compete, all entrants must complete and submit an entry form.  Each athlete must sign their entry form, and where the athlete is less than 18 years of age, the entry form must also be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

To be eligible to compete, all entrants must secure the approval of their club’s Head Coach; or where one does not exist, one of the Provincial Coaches.

The final Selection Trials race schedule will be produced after receipt of entries and any requirement for preliminary Heats is determined.  A draft race schedule – without Heats - is as follows:
Saturday, May 28
08:30 – 09:10 Men / Women K-1 / C-1 1000M Finals
11:30 – 12:00 Men / Women K-1 / C-1 500M Finals
14:00 – 14:30 Men / Women K-1 / C-1 200M Finals

Event organizers reserve the right to change the published race schedules and the advancement format to provide the fairest possible racing conditions to all participating athletes.  

The competition will be run with Canoe Kayak Canada racing rules. Athletes are responsible for providing their own deck numbers and for ensuring that their boats meet minimum weight requirements.

Trials Registration Details
The registration deadline for this competition is 5:00pm on Friday, May 20, 2022.   Late entries will only be accepted if a lane is available. A $25.00 late entry fee will be levied.

The Trials entry fee is $35.00. Clubs are responsible for collecting the entry fee for each participating athlete; and for payment of all entry fees to Wascana Racing Canoe Club before the start of competition.

A meeting of competition organizers and coaches will be held prior to the start of competition at a time and place determined by the Chief Official. The purpose of the meeting is to provide final competition details and to confirm entries.
SK Canoe/Kayak Team Preparation Program
Following nomination to the SK Canoe/Kayak CSG Team, athletes will be expected to comply with the training obligations outlined in Clause 14 of the WCSG Selection Criteria.

Important Notice – COVID-19 Vaccination Status
In December, 2021 the Canada Games Council and the Niagara ’22 Host Organizing Committee announced that to be eligible to participate in the 2022 Canada Summer Games, all participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The vaccination mandate may be altered or eliminated between now and the Games, but at the current time remains in place.

Athletes rendered ineligible to participate in the Games by virtue of a vaccine mandate will be replaced on the SK Canoe/Kayak CSG Team by the next-ranked athlete(s) on the respective Discipline Ranking List.
