Postcrypt Gallery Board Application, Spring 2023
Application Open until Monday, April 10th 11:59 PM
Weekly meetings: TBA

Postcrypt is Columbia University's only undergraduate, student-run art gallery. Postcrypt was created as a space to foster conversation about relevant issues in contemporary art and to increase engagement with curatorial practices. Through exhibitions and events, we provide an opportunity for students to present their artwork to the broader Columbia community. On campus you might have encountered us in the cozy basement of St. Paul’s Chapel or in Dodge Hall.

The Postcrypt board is a small, tightly-knit, and non-hierarchical community of committed individuals. We partake equally in all levels of curation, production, and communication. As a club representative of the Columbia artistic community, Postcrypt seeks to expand what creative leadership looks like and to break the insular patterns of Columbia’s art scene. We strive to cultivate a space of inclusivity and open-mindedness, such that we can instigate stimulating and constructive conversation. We are excited to hear from you!

What is your major?
Postcrypt Art Gallery Board is not limited to artists. What draws you to Postcrypt? *
Describe an artistic practice you’re interested in right now or a particularly memorable exhibition you've recently encountered. *
Postcrypt aims to create an inclusive, diverse, creative, and forward-thinking environment. How do you believe you could contribute to this community? *
Some past shows have been titled Dark Ecologies, Small Things, Textile, Bedroom, and Kitchen Sink. Do you have any ideas for a show you would like to curate?
Do you have any specific skills that you could bring to Postcrypt? (e.g., graphic design, web development, art handling, etc.)
During COVID, Postcrypt had to shift to virtual only interactions. Since we still wanted to keep the club alive and maintain engagement with our community, we decided to put on a virtual show. Describe or imagine a time when you encountered and solved a similar problem? How would you ensure Postcrypt maintains active engagement in a responsible way? *
What other time commitments do you have? *
