2020-2021 School Year Survey
The Forest City Regional School District has determined that a hybrid instructional model provides us with the greatest ability to comply with the guidelines of the CDC, the PA Department of Health, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education while also providing our students access to critically important in-person instruction.
This hybrid model, in which approximately 50% of our students would attend live, in-person classes each day, will allow our students and employees to follow proper social distancing guidelines by reducing the number of students in a classroom while providing access to high-quality in-person instruction with caring teachers.
The key details of the hybrid model are as follows:
• 50% of students would attend live, in-person classes every other day
• Students will be divided into two groups: Group A and Group B (Households will be grouped together, and this provides for maximum class sizes between 10-13 students)
• Group A attends live classes on Monday and Wednesday; at-home learning on Tuesday and Thursday
• Group B attends live classes on Tuesday and Thursday; at-home learning on Monday and Wednesday
• Groups A and B alternate attending live classes on Fridays
• Students with disabilities and receiving supports and services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act will attend live, in-person classes five days per week.
• Depending on the student’s grade level, work during the at-home learning days will include access to online educational portals, assignments in Google Classroom, some live, synchronous virtual instruction (HS only), and paper copies of activities and assignments (ES only).
• All students and employees will be required to wear a cloth facial covering while on the school bus, while transitioning from one area of the building to another, and any time that six feet of social distancing is not possible. Students will be able to remove their face masks in their classrooms during instruction, while eating lunch in the cafeteria, and during any time when they are able to maintain six feet of social distancing.
In consideration of our hybrid model, please complete the following survey so that we can ensure we are prepared to meet the needs of our students and families. We ask that ALL our families complete the survey, even if you completed the first survey so we have the most up-to-date information.
