Women's Policy Action Network

The Advocata Institute cordially invites you to join us at the launch of the Women's Policy Action Network on Thursday, the 30th of March, 2023.

The Women's Policy Action Network aims to bring about policy reform through advocacy for the economic empowerment of women. It will be a network run by individuals who are committed to women's empowerment. Harnessing lobbying power, collating research, identifying key problem areas that will impact the lives of women are a few targets to be achieved.

Women have been the backbone of the economy through their contribution to key sectors of the economy - tea,  garments and foreign remittances. In light of the disproportionate impact of the economic crisis and the pandemic on women,  enhancing women’s participation in the workforce is even more critical.

The event will focus on the launch of the policy action group and a panel discussion advocating for reforms relating to the economic empowerment of women.

The keynote speaker is Ms.Shiromal Cooray, the Chairman and Managing Director of Jetwing Travels. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Roshan Perera, Senior Research Fellow, Advocata Institute.
