A Bioblitz? What’s that?
A Bioblitz is a community citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible. The first BioBlitz was held in Washington, D.C. in 1996. Approximately 1000 species were identified at this first event.
Benefits of Attending
- Create records of biodiversity in our area.
- Connect with nature, and connect with members of our local community.
- Learn about local plants and animals.
- Work in small groups, or individually to record species (a wonderful way for a family to spend time together).
- Wheelchair accessible. Sites have paved paths except for the gravel path at Densmore Pathway.
