Dear Under Armour,

We are writing to you today to express our concern about the potential sale of the land currently used for the Locust Point Community Garden, and our honeybees. This cherished community resource has provided a space for residents to come together, grow their own food, and learn about the importance of environmental stewardship through protecting open spaces and pollinators.

For years this plot of land was overgrown and under-utilized. In the last five years, employees of Under Armour and residents of Locust Point have worked side-by-side to effectively turn the greenspace into a community garden that is actively used by close to 100 Locust Point households. These are employees and neighbors who have valued the Under Armour brand in no small part for its civic support of the garden. Today, the garden thrives as a green space, environmental sanctuary, apiary, and a source of fresh fruits and vegetables.

In a city with precious little green space, the garden is a prominent statement of Under Armour’s commitment to healthy and active living. There are signs on the property promoting the support of Under Armour, multiple newspaper articles covering the garden which mention the support of Under Armour and there has been attention to the garden given in every Locust Point Civic Association meeting over the last two years.

We ask you to work with our Locust Point leadership to find a way forward to designate this area as a garden and community green space. There are multiple benefits available to Under Armour, and we would like to have an opportunity to continue to shape the future of this space together.

Thank you for your consideration.
