Please answer all the questions truthfully, carefully, and to the best of your abilities. Please note that the questionnaire contains a lot of questions, so expect to take at least a couple hours to finish it. We recommend that instead of rushing it in one sitting, you return to your initial answers and revise them over a few days to craft well thought-out responses. You will also notice that only around half of the questions are required, but you are still encouraged to respond to optional questions, as they will better reveal to us your unique skills and personal philosophy when it comes to moderation.
Please do not submit more than one application. Keep responses to a couple paragraphs where necessary. Thanks!
Disclaimers:
- You do not need prior experience to apply. We are looking for individuals with the right mindset and soft skills for the position. Most moderation skills and tools can be picked up easily on the job. Conversely, even the most veteran applicants can end up not being a good fit. So don't feel discouraged by a lack of experience.
- We are looking for Discord moderators that are active in the UTC-9 to UTC-3:30 (North America/South America) Timezones. If you are not active in these zones, please do not apply; there will be another round of applications for EU/Asia/other timezones in the future. CLARIFICATION:
Basically if you can be pinged during the majority of waking hours for the continental America's you're good to apply.
- Personal responsibilities always take priority over moderation duties. However, please only apply if you believe you can carry out your responsibilities on a reasonably regular basis.
- Please feel free to list any additional skills you think will help the Mod Team in the Let’s Get Serious Section
- If you are accepted, there will be an observational period where you will have full discretion and authority as a mod. However, if there are any serious problems that arise, your position may be reconsidered.
- If your response is too long for the submission box, put your response into a pastebin and submit the pastebin link as your response
- The usage of AI Language Models (ChatGPT, Bard, etc.) is prohibited. If you are discovered to have used such tools your application will be denied and any future applications will be disqualified.
Requirements:- Must be over 18 years of age
- Must be willing to dedicate time to moderating mainly Discord on a consistent basis
- Must be in good standing i.e. no recent serious issues with regards to behavior
- Must have two-factor authentication on your Discord and Twitch account
- Must read, write, and understand English to a proficient degree
- Possess a high sense of maturity, sound judgment, and decision-making skills
Things that will make you stronger:- Demonstrated interest in Doug’s community
- Having a good character and being an amiable person; showing courtesy and respect to other people.
- Prior moderation experience
- Discord account that is over a year old at the time of application.
- The ability to discuss issues with others in a respectful and professional manner
- Being able to separate between personal and professional
Things that will make you weaker:
- An inability to read carefully
- Catering your responses to what you think the mod team wants to hear
- An inability to think critically
- Answering only the required questions
- Poorly Thought Out Responses
- Complaining about the results
