Are you ready to take charge of your dissertation from day one?
The dissertation is known as the capstone of doctoral education. Planning and writing one, however, is often a confusing, stressful, and solitary endeavor.
If you are a graduate student in the Social Sciences or Humanities preparing to start your dissertation this academic year, join a learning cohort offered by The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning titled Planning the Dissertation.
We’ll meet 6 times in-person on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5pm (beginning the week of 11/3/22 and ending on 12/15/22) to unpack the hidden curriculum of the dissertation process; explore the transition from coursework to research; discuss choosing advisors and committee members; think through developing a prospectus; learn tools for effective project management; and much more.
Planning the Dissertation is the first learning cohort offered by McGraw's larger initiative,
Discerning Dissertating. Subsequent cohorts in this program address later stages of the dissertation process: launching the dissertation, the day-to-day process of dissertating, and completing the dissertation. Stay tuned for these future cohorts in Spring '23 and beyond....
Please complete the following short survey in advance of our first meeting so that we can learn a bit more about you. Thank you!
