Neighbourhood Connect - Create your own neighbourhood group!
Do you want to feel part of a connected community, where you feel a sense of belonging, safety and friendship?
You've come to the right place! Neighbourhood Connect has partnered with neighbourly organisations across Victoria to give you the opportunity to become a Community Connector and create community where you live in Victoria.
This exciting project, funded by the Vic Health Reimagining Health Grants 2020/21, gives free individual mentoring and workshops, as well as the support, tools and tips to create firstly a gathering of neighbours and then an ongoing group.
We are seeking people with a welcoming and inclusive attitude and a willingness to work with others. We provide the 'how' and, if needed, strengthen your confidence to do this. If you have a partner, family member, neighbour or friend who is also keen, please ask them to register their interest also, and you could do this as a team. At the first event, you'll find others to join you as Connectors, making it easier and more fun to organise further gatherings.
There will be two workshops, with one to one mentoring in between, from experienced Connectors who will share their wealth of knowledge to make your event a success! So that we can provide the most meaningful support and ensure success, we ask you to commit to coming to both workshops. Part of the program will be surveys (anonymous) for research and evaluation conducted by the Australian National University.
Workshops will be held online via Zoom with support provided by phone and email. Places are limited so please express your interest today.
Feedback from other neighbour groups:
"This group is so important. I have come to realise how the community is where the change will come from. In a world of uncertainty, this connection is more important than ever.” - Member, Hilton Neighbours Group, WA
“I’ve been here several years but I still didn’t know many people in my area before today. This is great - I’ve learnt so much from the people I’ve met today.” - Monica, Green Knoll Neighbours Group, Vic
