AYC is the province’s honour choir for singers ages 16-22, and provides a unique opportunity for young singers from across Alberta to join forces in the pursuit of choral music excellence. The guest conductor for AYC 2024 is University of Toronto's Director of Choral Studies, Jamie Hillman.
Singers can apply for an AYC audition by submitting this form no later than Tuesday 30 April 2024.
Once the application for audition has been received, an Audition Packet will be sent to the email provided below. The Audition Packet contains detailed audition instructions. The audition is made up of 5 parts:
- two basic vocal exercises
- a rhythmic exercise
- a prepared piece (which can be the chorister’s part in one of the pieces your choir is currently singing)
- a new piece (it is short, and we provide the PDF score)
- a brief questionnaire.
You will submit your audition materials online—nothing is mailed in. The deadline to submit your audition materials is May 21.
Accepted choristers will need to complete a registration form and submit their program fee. The fee for choristers is $350, payable after official acceptance into the choir. Bursaries are available.
