Application for UCLA Astronomy Summer Program 2024
Astronomy Live!, an outreach group based in the UCLA Department of Physics and Astronomy, hosts an observational astronomy workshop for high school students every summer. The goal of the workshop is to offer students an introduction to scientific research through the lens of observational astronomy as a first step towards pursuing a career or interest in science. The workshop will be run by UCLA graduate students earning their Ph.D.’s in astronomy and astrophysics.

The program will span 9 weeks (June 11 - August 6) and meet once per week for about 3 hours on Tuesday evenings. Meetings will generally take place 6-9 PM on the UCLA campus (times may vary by 1 hour according to the schedule). Transportation will not be provided. The workshop is targeted for high school upperclassmen (rising juniors and seniors) but underclassmen are also encouraged to apply. Access to a computer will be provided during meetings for each participant if needed. There is no cost to apply or attend- it’s free!

The application deadline is May 10, 2024.  If you have any questions about the application, please contact us at astrosummerworkshop@gmail.com.
