Request for reconsideration of materials
Before completing and submitting this form, we invite you to contact the Library Director by phone at (828) 287-3520 Ext 3 or by email at nplibrary@rutherfordton.net to discuss your concerns regarding library materials. Should that prove in any way unsatisfactory, you are welcome to submit this request, which will be reviewed by: other library staff; a professional, degreed librarian affiliated with the Foothills Consortium; the Executive Board of the Norris Library Foundation; and potentially the Rutherfordton Town Manager. This form is considered confidential and will not be released to any party other than those noted above.

As stated in its Collection Development Policy, Norris Public Library is dedicated to free and equal access to information, knowledge, independent learning, and the joys of reading and entertainment for our diverse community. This policy provides guidance for the selection and withdrawal of library materials in order to meet the needs of the community as a whole. As the community changes, the library will continue to reassess and adapt its collections to reflect new and changing areas of interest and concern. However, no changes will be made that violate the principles contained in the Library Bill of Rights, adopted and amended by the Council of the American Library Association (ALA) Freedom to Read policy statement. We strongly encourage you to read these statements before submitting your request.
