Fox Sport Horses presents "Back to the Basics" Dressage Clinic
Vixen Hollow is hosting a four week clinic series focusing on aspects of eventing with Melissa Fox of Fox Sport Horses. Dressage is a key part of eventing but it is also foundational to ALL disciplines of riding. Understanding the mechanics of a horse's movement and how a rider can control them leads to great riding in any discipline. "Back to the Basics" is about working on the foundations of dressage. Melissa will teach riders how to connect with their horse and focus on controlling the way a horse balances, engages its front and hind end, bend correctly at the neck, move shoulders, and body and respond to a rider's commands.

Instructor: Melissa Fox
Location:   Location: 7750 320th St W, Northfield, MN
Date: October 9
Time: starting at 8 am, riding times will be assigned several days prior to the clinic

About Melissa Fox: From off-track thoroughbred rehabilitation, to horse rescue, to starting young horses from scratch, Melissa has learned problem solving for horses and riders of all backgrounds. Melissa understands that every horse is different and helps her riders understand how to connect with their horse. She focuses on all elements of the bond between horse and rider and teaches students how to problem solve for their unique animal.  Melissa thinks it is important to ride correctly but also understand WHY elements of riding work.  Riders will learn to understand a horse's biomechanics and how to use a horse's natural ability, balance, and movement and help them to feel when a horse is moving correctly.

Format: 1 day clinic. 2 riders will share a one hour slot. The riding session will include whiteboarding to help riders visualize a horse's position when bending to educate rider.  Riders will get an intense, educational, dressage session focusing on helping riders to connect with their horse.  The session may focus on bending, transitions, connection, lateral movement, or more advanced dressage movements, depending on the level of horse and rider.  Please plan to ride in your normal tack so that if issues exist, these can be identified and addressed during the session.
