7th Grade Honors Language Arts Application
Language Arts 7 Honors (1.0) (7220A-semester 1, 7220B-semester 2)
Prerequisite: Instructor approval, grades from previous year, and SRI score.   Current SRI testing will not be done until April.  Please select honors now and a screening process will occur after current SRI results come in.  Latest SRI scores are available through current language art teacher.  
This class is based on the 7th grade Utah English Language Arts (ELA) Core Standards is designed for students who qualify for more advanced instruction, and is focused on building concrete writing skills with a focus on sentence fluency and type, reading comprehension, writing, methods of inquiry, and the processes, skills, and strategies of effective communication. We will be reading a variety of literature from historical fiction to nonfiction. We will be tying this class closely to Utah History and Science so that we are reading and building upon those skill

Review the course descriptions for the 7th Grade Honors Language Arts class. This is available on ELA’s webpage and in the description above. A separate application is required for each honors class you intend to take. Teachers will have access to the online form for the approval process.  Applying for an honors class does not guarantee you will be scheduled in that class. ELA reserves the right to determine the best placement for each student’s success.
