1. Commitment: Being a program participant requires a commitment to your fellow participants, volunteers, community and Empowerment Squared. You are expected to fulfill this commitment throughout the entire program. If you are unable to attend any sessions or are going to be late for any reason, please call the office at 905-393-5370 and leave a message.

If you are absent more than 3 sessions throughout the program without notice, a discussion will happen to see if this is the right program for you. Please note that 3 lates will be counted as an absence. This does not include any sessions cancelled by Empowerment Squared.

2. Positive Attitude: It is your duty to promote good sportsmanship between your fellow participants by continuing to participate and positively encouraging others.

3. Respect: Staff, coaches, volunteers, fellow participants, the environment, community members and yourself must be treated with the highest degree of respect.

4. Setting a good example: Set a good example for your fellow participants. Encourage others to act in a way that will enhance the morale of the program. The program will be free from:

a) foul language;
b) physical and verbal abuse
c) negative comments - of any kind
d) comments relating to ethnic or religious origin

If you continue to exhibit negative behaviors ie) more than 3 times, you will be asked to take a break from the program until you have completed consequences from your family and Empowerment Squared staff ie) have a family meeting, complete a number of hours of community and service and write an apology letter to whomever has been affected. If the consequences are completed to the satisfaction of Empowerment Squared staff, the participant may return to their program.

5. Appropriate Backgrounds. Before joining an online session, test your camera and technology to be sure that everything is working well. While your camera is on, check to see if you need to remove any inappropriate items from your walls or your environment. ie) Poster with profanity of inappropriate images.

6. No Disturbances: Distractions come in many forms when using technology. Alerts, phone calls, other people in your home, pets, outside traffic or pedestrians, to name a few, may all cause distractions. As much as possible, try to anticipate these distractions and prepare in advance to avoid them whenever possible during your mentoring session. If an emergency comes up during the session, you may privately message the program lead and let your participants/mentees know that you will return to them shortly. ie) Turning off alerts, placing cell phones in a different room or on mute.

7. Participation: The session can only be successful if everyone participates fully. If you have questions, please use the raise hand icon or type your question using the chat icon. There are no stupid questions.

8. Materials: Participants may be provided materials for their program via mail or a designated pick up time at Empowerment Squared. We expect participants to respect the equipment & materials provided for use during the program.

9. Food and Drink: Participants are encouraged not to eat a large meal at least 1 hr before the sports and recreation sessions to avoid cramping and upset stomachs. Participants are encouraged not to eat during their session as food could become a distraction.

10. Communication Sharing. During sessions if given sharing rights, share only material for educational purposes ie) websites, YouTube Links. No inappropriate language or graphics will be tolerated.
