This online request form is for those workers deemed "essential" by the Province of Ontario for the provision of emergency child care when they have to report to work at their regular work site (i.e not working from home), and have no alternative to child care for their school aged child beginning April 19, 2021. Child care for children 0 - 4 years of age is open without prohibited access.

Various child care locations in the district of Cochrane will be made available for school age care. For clarification on whether or not you are deemed essential, please go to the CDSSAB website for the full list.

LOCATIONS:
If deemed eligible for Emergency Child Care, your family will be placed at one of the sites based on the availability of space.. For health and safety reasons and to limit exposure, school aged siblings will all be enrolled at the same centre and you will not be placed until spaces are available for all of your children at the one location.

- YMCA of Timmins (Poplar Avenue site) in Timmins
- Friends Forever Child Care Centre in Timmins
- Northern Treasures Home Child Care Agency in Timmins.
 Spaces are limited and only available for eligible workers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT EMERGENCY CHILD CARE:
Emergency Child Care is a means to a last resort for families who must report to work who have no alternate to care for school aged children beginning April 19, 2021. It is safer for your child to remain at home. Childcare Centres will not be able to support children to participate in their virtual learning while at the centre.

Parents/visitors will not be able to enter the childcare centre. This is non-negotiable.  This means that after daily screening, children, regardless of their age will be expected to separate from their parent/guardian outside or in a foyer.

Parents / guardians must screen children every day and will not be able to attend at all if they fail the Ministry screening tool.  In this situation, the childcare space will be released to the next eligible family and you will be eligible to reapply for Emergency Child Care once deemed safe to do so based on directives from Porcupine Health Unit.

Your child will be exposed to up to 4 to 5 staff and other children daily.  These children may be different depending on parents’ schedules and even though every effort will be made to have consistent staff with your child/children, extended hours and longer shifts may make this impossible.

Those who are granted a spot and have not attended for two days without notifying the centre with a valid reason for absenteeism will LOSE the child care spot. You will be receive an email from CDSSAB staff to inform you that you will no longer have a spot.

No spots will be held for families in case they may need the spot.
