Audition for Extractions!

This dance concert will explore the intersection of entertainment and climate change. More specifically, this project asks how dance can meaningfully address climate change and engage audiences without being patronizing, overly abstract, or “cringey.” The choreography will be informed by research and will encompass a variety of styles.

Music selections include works by Pim Stones, Harry Styles, Rina Sawayama, Beyoncé, and Childish Gambino.

Performances will take place around the beginning of April 2024.

This project is being advised by Professor Emily Coates.

To audition for Extractions, there are three options:

1) An in-person audition at 4PM on Friday, December 8th. Auditions will take place in the Schwarzman Center studio and consist of a warm-up and a combination.

2) Submit at least one video of you dancing jazz or contemporary choreography. The video(s) should at least be 1 minute long.

All videos should be submitted via email to santana.vannarath@yale.edu by 5PM on 12/9/23.
