Corpus Christi 2023 Parishioner site survey
Thank you for supporting our parishioner site at https://www.corpuschristichurch.ca/

We hope this site has served your online parish community needs adequately since we began in 2010.

We are now at a point when we must decide on its future.
We have a wonderful pastor and our parish is returning to normalcy, post-pandemic.

In the spirit of consultation that binds us to each other as the body of Christ, we invite you to share your thoughts with us in this very short survey.

Your responses will guide us in prayerful discernment as to whether we should proceed or wind down this site.

A brief history of this site:
Gavin Barrett created the website ministry and this official website for the parish as a part of the Mission and Outreach ministry's work, during Msgr Sam Bianco's timeThe website ministry was structured to meet two goals: 1. Unity in Community  2. Ministering to Ministries
Gavin Barrett and Rachel Fonseca (who first booked the domain) have been site admins since it began.

The parish received the site well, and it was even studied by the Archdiocese as a good model for parish community sites. Nonetheless, a later pastor decided to move the parish to a newly introduced Archdiocesan web platform launched for parishes without a site. As our members indicated that they wanted this site to continue, we maintained it in parallel to serve parishioner concerns and needs, while the official parish site moved to corpuschristito.archtoronto.org.

Since it was first launched, this site's membership and traffic have grown vigorously and today we have 512 members. In the last quarter, the site attracted 1168 visits.

The role of this site
In addition to the founding goals for the site we have always endeavoured to complement and support the official Archdiocesan site. Our site provides useful information not always available there, such as deaths and funerals, special updates during the pandemic, links to Vatican encyclicals and releases, photos of parish events, and videos of choir performances, to name a few. The site also enables members to interact with each other in an online community format.

Reason for this poll
Annual domain costs (around $30/year) are donated by Rachel. Monthly hosting costs (around $30/month) are sponsored by Gavin’s company, Barrett and Welsh.

These have come up for renewal.

At the same time, Gavin has expressed a desire to step down from his duties as site admin and from other parish duties. Rachel has also expressed her desire to step down as site admin. This makes it an appropriate time for us to decide together on the future of this site.

It is not possible for us to maintain the site on our own any longer.

We are sending out this message to all of our 500+ members to gather feedback.
