Applicants are free to share as much personal information as you choose, especially if you think it will improve your chances of employment. However, please do not share anything that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way.
FYI
Employers are not allowed to ask your race, national origin, color, sex, gender identity, religion, disability (unrelated to the job), genetic information (including family medical history), or age. You can voluntarily share any of this information but you are not required to provide any of this information, even if asked.

https://www.eeoc.gov/prohibited-employment-policiespracticesAn employer may ask you for all sorts of background information, especially during the hiring process. For example, we may ask about your employment history, your education, your criminal record, or your use of online social media. Unless the employer is asking for medical or genetic information, it's not illegal to ask you questions about your background, or to require a background check, which we do. (Employers aren't allowed to ask for medical information until they offer you a job, and they aren't allowed to ask for your genetic information - including family medical history - except in very limited circumstances. We will not ask.)
When we ask about your background and learn things about you, we must treat you the same as anyone else, regardless of what information you voluntarily share regarding your race, national origin, color, sex, religion, disability, genetic info, or "older" age (over 40). Employers are not allowed to ask for additional background information based simply on the fact you are of a certain group but you are always welcome to share.
To summarize: You can share anything you want. That's completely up to you. And we are interested in anything you want to share! We are limited, however, as to what we can ask.
