File Transfer Masterclass Survey
Hi, I'm Alex, the author of Android Upload Service. Since 2013 I'm doing stuff related to file transfers and I wanted to share my expertise in the field in an organic and structured way, with a course. Is it a good or bad idea? I don't know yet, but as always, community feedbacks matter to me. Based on the result of this survey, I'll decide whether or not to make this course.

The course will cover everything from the foundation level (how upload works at TCP/IP level) up to the real use cases, using Android Upload Service in apps together with an upload demo server. Everything will be run locally on Windows, macOS or Linux. Source code will be available for all the examples. You will learn how things actually work and how to debug problems which may arise. The skills you will master are universal and applicable not only on Android or using Android Upload Service. You will have the knowledge needed to master fast any kind of upload protocol and to debug its issues. You will also be an Android Upload Service master and able to write plugins to extend it to your specific needs, leveraging all the existing features.

The course will be made as a series of video lectures, together with code examples available for download. I'll need a vast amount of personal time to prepare it, so the course will be a paid one, to be able to support the library development (which is and always will be free and open source) and the time and resources spent to prepare the course.

This course is targeted to the ones which wants to:
- understand how uploads work in general and how "information is transmitted on the wire"
- understand how a file upload server works. You will run a real one locally on your computer.
- founding principles of Android Upload Service. How it's built, how it integrates with Android OS and its lifecycles
- get up to speed with uploads faster than reading and doing trial and error by themselves
- be able to troubleshoot real case scenarios in a short amount of time
- leverage all the capabilities and features offered by Android Upload Service
- understand how to extend the library to better match the specific needs
- have an universal and lasting expertise in the field of file transfers

The course will assume at least basic understanding of Android OS. The syllabus is Work In Progress. Take this one just as the initial vision. Final one will be shaped based on the feedbacks received. It could cover more topics which are not listed here.

Emails collected will be used solely to inform you about my decision about this course and only if you are willing to be notified. You won't hear from me otherwise.

Spread this link to everyone you think may be interested, to get as much feedbacks as possible before the survey gets closed on 28 August 2021 🍻

Meanwhile, happy coding! 😎
