21st CCLC After School Program Attendance Policy
Attendance is vital to the success of each student in the 21st CCLC After-School Program; we are NOT a "drop-in" program.  During the application process, parent(s) and/or guardian(s) are asked to ensure that the student will be in attendance on all days that classes are held and the student is in school.  This is important so that the teachers and Site Coordinator know that no student has left school property and is arriving home to an unsupervised situation or is unsupervised in the community.  Program staff takes attendance very seriously; parent and/or guardian communication is important when a student is not attending classes on any scheduled day.  The 21st CCLC and Woodbridge School District cannot be held responsible for a student whose family neglects to follow the attendance policy.  As a result of our need to ensure the safety of the students in the program, the following policy is in effect:

Students will attend classes on all scheduled days as noted on the calendar for the 2019-2020 school year.
Students will listen to announcements on program days (Monday through Friday) when weather could cause a possible cancellation of classes.
Students will provide written notice when an absence will occur.  This can be written by parent or guardian in the agenda book or on plain paper and signed.  Alternately, a parent or guardian may call the Main Office by 2:00 pm of the day classes will be missed.  These absences will be marked as “Excused”.
Students will be marked as “Unexcused” if either of the above methods is not used to inform staff of an absence before it occurs.
Students will sign-in before being dismissed to any sports practice. If the student will be taking the bus home, he or she must be in line for the bus no later than 5:00 pm.  The buses will not wait for students who left class to go to sports practice.  Athletes who do not sign in will not be permitted to ride the bus home.
Students will attend scheduled classes the week prior to any special events, including but not limited to, field trips.

Consequences for Violations of Attendance Policy:

Each week a student is absent from classes, a phone call will be placed home to the parent or guardian using contact information on the application form.  This will be done only after confirming via the Daily Attendance Bulletin that the student was not absent from school.
Failure to attend five (5) regularly scheduled classes without a parent or guardian note will result in the student being placed on suspension pending a telephone or in-person conference with the Site Coordinator.  Notification of suspension will be made via phone call, email, and/or in writing.  During the suspension period, the student may not attend any special events, including but not limited to, field trips.
Further lack of attendance or inconsistent attendance may result in the student being dropped from the After-School Program roster.  If this occurs, the parent or guardian will be notified in writing with a copy placed in the student’s file.  This will remain in effect for the remainder of the program year.

Please help the 21st CCLC After-School staff provide a positive experience for your student by encouraging good attendance.  Also, notify the Main Office in a timely manner if there is any change in contact information so that we may use the most current information available.  Thank you.
