Thank you for considering participating in our study. Before you go on, we'd like to ask for your permission to include your recordings and general background information (without your name) in our research database. We will protect your privacy and will not use any personally identifiable information. Here are some things to think about before making a decision:
(1) The only risk to you in joining the research is someone seeing your answers and hearing your voice (without personally identifiable information).
(2) You will be compensated with a $15 e-gift card for your time. The other benefit to you is that you will be helping research!
(3) If you say yes, we will make your recording and non-personally identifiable background information available to researchers at Dartmouth College and other institutions to help them learn about life and language in eastern Massachusetts. A copy of these recordings will be publicly available from a research website. We plan to keep this data so that in time we might have a database of eastern Massachusetts recordings spanning many years.
(4) For our project, we are interested in the lived experiences and languages of eastern Massachusetts natives. We will never give your name or contact information to anyone. This is stored in a secure server accessible only to the researchers in our lab.
